Life under globalization's towering shadow is certainly not a simple one for some of Bangkok's a smaller amount well off residents, and it's no far better illustrated than inside lives of the many street little ones of Bangkok. While some of the street kids are locals of Bangkok, many of these children are frequently refugees from Burma, Cambodia and Laos, available to nearby mafia, and forced out to work to pay back their credit card debt. They struggle to sell their own quota on a daily basis, and frequently have to work 12 hour days and also longer using little foodstuff or rest, until their 'owners' are satisfied with their earnings for that day. Then, they goes back 'home' to a tiny hovel that is shared with a few more kids, eat a small meal before setting out to work in the mail.
Please bear this in mind when you visit Bangkok. Providing them with money is a difficult call to produce, as a variety of them really do need the money to help their families, but for many they are simply money making tools involving local criminals. If you're unsure but you still wish to help, one thing that you can do safely may be to buy the baby something to enjoy, rather than give them money. This way you will be sure that child is normally receiving something worthwhile.
